Predictability is the mark of daily life.

The shapes, shades and shadows of our days repeat such that we feel that there is no more new to see, hear or feel. That we are standing still. That we are rooted in the ordinary.

Much can be made of what’s around us. We must look to be able to see things, and consider and arrange our experiences in our minds.

This thinking guides A Tour of Waking Daylight, a collection of photographs that demonstrates the rewards of our immediate world and reminds us of the wonder, humour and light in the hours we pass.

Inspired by the photographs of Ellsworth Kelly, A Tour of Waking Daylight creates a mood that is dream-like and familiar. Its everyday settings feel more remembered than seen, as though glimpsed from a moving train and recalled days later. As street photographs they’re unplanned records of surroundings. As fine art objects, they’re deliberate and focused in their composition.
